Chapter 9: Earning Money
She Yuqi had been prepared in advance; with a slight sidestep, she easily dodged the attack.
The short, stout woman saw her chance, grabbed two baskets of eggs, and tried to make a run for it. But She Yuqi’s eyes darkened; without a word, she stepped forward, grabbed the woman by the hair, and slammed her to the ground.
With two sharp slaps, the woman’s face was battered like pork head meat; when she opened her mouth to speak, her front teeth were loose.
“Ouch! Selling bad eggs and hitting people—where’s the justice in that?”
Seeing that her accomplices had all fled, the stout woman gritted her teeth and decided to play dirty.
“Stop pretending! What proof do you have that my eggs are bad? Just your lies? I say you’re the one who sold rotten eggs last time, you outsider!”
“You’re lying!”
The stout woman grew flustered and quickly retorted.
She Yuqi smiled with sarcasm.
As soon as the stout woman spoke, She Yuqi suddenly realized how she’d been led off course by this young girl.
They had only wanted to stir up trouble, scare her off, and take the two baskets of eggs without resistance—but they hadn’t expected to run into such a tough opponent.
Her logic was truly twisted, but her spirit was fierce!
More and more onlookers gathered. The stout woman, unable to hold out, sneaked some eggs from her sleeve into She Yuqi’s basket.
“I can find them,” she declared.
She Yuqi released her. The stout woman straightened her back and said, “Since everyone’s here, I’ll show you all the true face of this dishonest merchant. I gave you a chance to save face, but you refused. Don’t blame me for being harsh.”
She Yuqi shrugged. “Fine, I want to see how you’ll weasel out of this.”
“What weasel? I’m just stating facts.”
The stout woman glared fiercely at She Yuqi, then, under everyone’s gaze, reached for an egg from the basket on the right.
Which one was it?
Yes, it should be this one.
Thinking to herself, she casually grabbed an egg, held it up like a treasure, and proudly spun around in front of the crowd.
“Watch closely!”
Crack!
She loosened her grip, and the egg fell to the ground, instantly breaking in two.
All eyes snapped toward it, the crowd squeezing in like sardines, eager to join the excitement.
“These eggs look perfectly fine—how can they be rotten? Maybe it’s my nose that’s off?”
“Could everyone’s noses have gone out of whack? These are good eggs. This woman’s just looking to cause trouble and take two baskets for free.”
At first, the stout woman held her head high, like a rooster crowing after victory, but hearing this, her brow furrowed.
“No way! I clearly—”
“You clearly slipped in a rotten egg, didn’t you?”
She Yuqi stood in front of her, a full head taller, her imposing presence overwhelming.
The stout woman saw the situation was bad and quickly tried to save face.
“I didn’t. Don’t wrongfully accuse me. Fine, I won’t make you pay.”
With that, she tried to slip away.
She Yuqi wasn’t about to let her off so easily; it was her turn to play dirty.
“You smashed all my eggs!I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
