Chapter 14: The Wang Family’s Revenge
Before Wang Jianshu arrived at Jinling Hospital, the current director, Song Xiangyu, was already waiting at the entrance.
Surrounded by a crowd, Wang Jianshu was escorted directly to the ward where Wang Wan was staying.
Inside the ward, all the expert doctors Jinling Hospital could assemble had gathered. Each of them was busy performing various examinations on Wang Wan, fulfilling their respective duties.
At that moment, Wang Wan’s condition was far from optimistic. Since he was brought to the hospital the previous night, his physical pain had intensified minute by minute, until he had no choice but to receive a sedative to spare him from agony.
“Director Song? Have all the top specialists arrived? How is my son’s condition now?!”
“Mr. Wang…” Song Xiangyu’s voice trembled. “The experts we invited have just finished their consultation with young Wang, but his situation seems rather dire…”
“What? Dire?” Wang Jianshu’s expression changed. “Wasn’t there a specialist consultation? How could this happen?”
“Mr. Wang, please don’t get agitated. The truth is that young Wang’s illness is extremely difficult to treat. The experts are doing everything they can, but there’s still no sign of improvement…”
“These so-called experts are useless!” Wang Jianshu erupted in fury. “If Jinling Hospital can’t save my son, you might as well close your doors! And you, Director Song, don’t think you can keep your position either! Don’t forget, if it weren’t for our Wang family’s support, you’d never have become director!”
“Mr. Wang, please don’t get upset,” Song said anxiously. “Since the experts are helpless, we can only turn to Li Xueyang, the most renowned physician in Xia. He must have a way to save young Wang…”
“Dr. Li?” Wang Jianshu paused, then said, “Invite him. Whatever it costs, I will pay, as long as he cures my son!”
“But…”
“But what?”
“But a physician of Dr. Li’s caliber may not be swayed by money. It's not easy to persuade him to intervene!” Director Song stammered.
“I don’t care. As long as my son can be saved, do whatever it takes to contact him—even if you have to drag him here by force!” Wang Jianshu shouted, almost mad with desperation.
His son was his only hope; nothing could be allowed to go wrong. For this, he was willing to pay any price.
“Mr. Wang, please calm yourself first.” Director Song was already sweating profusely. He took a deep breath and said, “Though Dr. Li is difficult to reach, I will try my utmost to contact him. However, he has lived in seclusion for many years, and his whereabouts are uncertain. If we truly cannot reach him, we must find another solution. Young Wang’s illness cannot wait.”
Wang Jianshu fell silent for a moment, his expression dark. He nodded. “Go contact Li Xueyang. Use whatever means necessary. And get in touch with any other miracle doctors you can find. Spare no effort or expense—my son must be cured!”
Song Xiangyu took a deep breath and hurried out of the ward to seek solutions.
He knew Wang Jianshu was not someone he could afford to offend. For the sake of his own future, it would be best if Wang Wan recovered safely. If anything happened, he had to ensure that Wang Wan did not die in Jinling Hospital—he could never bear such responsibility.
Wang Jianshu stood outside the sickbed, gazing at Wang Wan lying there, his face devoid of all color. He fell into deep contemplation. At that moment, he wished desperately that he were the one lying in the hospital bed instead of his son.
“Lin Yu, Su family—you will pay the price for this.” Wang Jianshu’s eyes flashed with rage as he made up his mind.
He pulled out his phone, dialed a string of numbers, and when the call connected, his voice was icy cold: “This is Wang Jianshu. Listen carefully—from this moment, Wangda Group is terminating all collaborative projects with Su Group and its affiliated companies. Notify all partners of Wangda Group that they are to refuse any cooperation with the Su family. I want the Su family erased from Jinling completely…”
…
The Su family.
At that moment, the Su family’s living room was packed with people.
All the heads of the various subsidiaries under Su Group, including Su Ruoxi herself, had gathered.
There was only one reason that could bring so many together: today, they had all received notification from Wangda Group terminating their partnership.
“Chairman Su, what should we do?”
“Why is Wangda Group ending all cooperation with us?”
“Yes, everything was going well before. What happened?”
“Not only Wangda Group—even other companies partnered with them are ending their agreements with us.”
The leaders of the Su Group subsidiaries raised their concerns, astonished that their partners preferred to pay the penalty for breach of contract rather than continue cooperation. It had caught them completely off guard.
Su Tianteng sat upright on the central sofa, his face gloomy. As expected, this was Wang Jianshu’s revenge. To strike at the Su family, he had chosen to attack from the business front.
“Everyone, don’t panic,” Su Tianteng stood up to calm the crowd. “For now, return to your companies to consolidate resources and prepare emergency measures. I will find a way to solve this problem. The Su Group will not be defeated so easily.”
Though facing adversity, determination flickered in Su Tianteng’s eyes. He knew this was a major trial for the Su Group. If they could weather it, the group would transform. If not, it might disappear from Jinling’s business history.
After hearing Su Tianteng’s words, everyone left to carry out his instructions.
After all, Su Tianteng was the soul of the Su family, the architect who had built the Su Group into its current form. His word still carried great authority among them.
Once everyone had departed, Su Ruoxi, who had remained silent in the corner, finally spoke: “Father, the pharmaceutical company is suffering the most. Previously Wangda supplied our raw materials. Now, our patented products will have to halt production because there are no ingredients…”
“Halt production… The reputation of our flagship pharmaceutical brand will inevitably take a huge hit,” Su Tianteng murmured.
Su Ruoxi watched her father’s darkened expression, aware he was struggling to find a solution. She refrained from interrupting, knowing she was largely responsible for the current predicament.
“Father, should we try to implement emergency purchase limits? With our current inventory, we should be able to hold out for a while, buying us time to look for solutions,” Su Ruoxi suggested.
Su Tianteng looked up at his daughter, a glimmer of approval in his eyes. He understood her proposal—purchase limits could temporarily ease the pressure, but it was only a stopgap, not a cure.
“Your suggestion is a good start,” Su Tianteng deliberated for a moment. “But the key is to resume production quickly. No matter how much we limit sales, eventually supplies will run out.”
Su Ruoxi nodded. “I understand. I’ll contact other partners as quickly as possible and see if we can find substitutes to get through this crisis!”
