Chapter 8: Beautiful Lady, Are You on Earth?
Lu Xing returned to Earth.
No sooner had he arrived than he felt a sudden cramp in his stomach, followed by weakness and trembling in his limbs, sweat breaking out on his forehead. He quickly realized he was hungry!
“Has she gone a whole day without eating or drinking?”
Considering his own condition, Lu Xing understood immediately and hurried toward the dormitory.
He realized he had no meal card and hadn’t brought his phone; this Ice Fairy had wandered out without a single thing!
“You may not need earthly sustenance, but you can’t skip meals!”
Wiping the sweat from his brow as he walked, Lu Xing felt the onset of mild hypoglycemia—missing a single meal would cause cold sweats, and now he had missed two. His stomach protested in waves.
She must have remarkable endurance to hold out this long!
Ten minutes later, Lu Xing reached the dorm and without a word, ate a few biscuits and gulped down half a bottle of water.
But it wasn’t enough to satisfy his hunger. Grabbing his phone, he headed to a small restaurant inside the West Gate urban village, ordering tomato scrambled eggs, twice-cooked pork, and a bowl of corn soup, devouring three bowls of rice alongside.
Only after finishing did he feel truly revived.
“Handsome guy, how many days have you been starving?” the owner laughed as Lu Xing paid the bill.
Lu Xing could only smile helplessly. Back in his room, he noticed a piece of paper on the desk—he hadn’t checked if she’d left anything behind.
He looked, and indeed, there was something.
But this Ice Fairy was sparing with words, leaving just three neat Chinese characters:
“I have read.”
“...”
Lu Xing was speechless for a long moment. Read what? You could have written more! Is there some divine power or lingering sword intent in your handwriting?
Forget it.
She was someone from the cultivation world, suddenly arriving on Earth and inhabiting a different body—she probably thought she’d been ensnared by some enemy’s illusion and had every reason to be cautious.
Next time she came, things would be clearer.
After some thought, Lu Xing picked up a pen and added a line to the notes on the desk:
“You’re not a fairy now. When you’re hungry, eat. When you’re thirsty, drink!”
Just then, Qi Wenyu returned. Lu Xing asked him what “he” had done that day.
“You left early this morning,” Qi Wenyu said with a strange expression. “At noon, when I woke up and went out for breakfast, I saw you. I greeted you, but you didn’t respond. When I got closer and saw your cold demeanor, I knew you were having another episode.”
“...Then?”
“You just kept walking on your own. I followed you for a bit, saw you silently wandering the campus, then turned back.”
“Thanks!” Lu Xing said gratefully.
Qi Wenyu waved it off and seriously advised, “Sixth Brother, you really should see a doctor. I’m not joking!”
“Don’t worry, I’m fine,” Lu Xing replied after a moment. “If not, I’ll apply to move out.”
“Why move out? Waste of money. If you have an episode in the dorm, we can watch out for you,” Qi Wenyu said.
Lu Xing dropped the subject.
He guessed that once all of them came to Earth at least once, things would improve. That game wouldn’t make him experience life with a dozen girls forever.
Thinking of the game, Lu Xing checked the app again. The interface was still stuck on “In Progress.”
Night fell.
“Future Earth’s Human Resistance member, the duke’s daughter from the magical world, and a cold, aloof immortal from the cultivation world... just swapping three girls is already overwhelming. I hope there won’t be any more swaps!” Lu Xing prayed silently as he lay in bed, but the game ignored his wishes.
He was awoken again by the ringing of his phone. Still groggy from sleep, he reached out and saw the caller’s number on the screen. A chill ran down his spine.
“183***8503!”
Wasn’t that his own number?!
Stunned, Lu Xing’s gaze was drawn to the hand holding the phone—slender, graceful, with fair skin that bespoke a peerless beauty.
Taking a deep breath to steady himself, Lu Xing answered.
The other side was silent except for heavy breathing.
Chuckling softly, Lu Xing said, “Hello, beautiful. Are you on Earth?”
More silence.
“I know you’re confused, but don’t worry. I left a note on the desk. Once you read it, you’ll understand. This time, we’re in the same world, so we can talk on the phone!”
He felt a strange relief that this swap wasn’t to another world.
After a long pause, a man’s voice—his own—spoke from the phone: “What do you mean, same world?”
The beauty quickly caught the key point.
“Look for the paper on the desk,” Lu Xing instructed.
“Okay,” she agreed, then lay back down, her voice tinged with confusion. “Why are there other people in your place?! Is that your boyfriend?”
“What boyfriend? This is a college dorm!” Lu Xing laughed bitterly. “Isn’t it obvious? Beds above, desks below.”
“You’re a university student?”
“You never went to college?”
Looking down, Lu Xing noticed that this beauty’s figure was equally stunning. Like Annie, she wore only lingerie to sleep. Beneath the soft air-conditioned blanket, her curves stirred his blood.
Thankfully, having encountered “nude” immortal beauties from the cultivation realm, he was now somewhat immune to earthly charms.
“I studied abroad,” she said.
From the phone came his own voice again: “I didn’t board at high school either.”
“So you’re an elite international student. Then you know about bunk beds, right? The ladder is at the head.”
Lu Xing smiled. His dorm was newly built, better than the old one; the ladder was in the middle, making it easier to climb.
“...You’re not wearing clothes?!”
After a moment, she asked in surprise, “How do I get down?”
“You aren’t wearing any either,” Lu Xing teased.
She seemed to realize and was momentarily at a loss. Lu Xing quickly added, “No offense, I haven’t seen anything. When I get dressed, I’ll close my eyes. By the way, where are your clothes? Mine are on the bed—look for yours.”
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. “My clothes are in the changing room... No, wait. Don’t move, stay on the bed. Don’t enter my changing room. I’ll come over. You’re in Haicheng, right?”
“Yes, but do I have to lie here all day? No way. You have pajamas on the bed, right? I’ll wear those. Don’t worry, I won’t look in the changing room or anywhere else. I’ll just sit in the living room playing on my phone.”
Lu Xing bargained with her. Sitting all day in the ice chamber was suffocating; finally, this swap was in the modern world. He couldn’t just sit around bored.
“Don’t use my phone!” she said anxiously.
“Then don’t use mine.”
Lu Xing wasn’t about to give in.
“I just called you. I haven’t looked at your privacy,” she explained.
Lu Xing considered and nodded. “Alright. I won’t look at your phone or touch your body. I’ll wait for you in the living room. You get up, wash up, then take the subway here.”
“Subway? I don’t know how to take the subway!” she blurted.
Blushing, she explained, “I just returned to the country, and I don’t even know where I am. Usually, a driver picks me up. Use my phone to call Assistant Zhang or Secretary Sun and have them send two cars to your school.”
Lu Xing was speechless again. She couldn’t use the subway, didn’t know where she was, but was adept at ordering her staff around.
“Why do you need two cars if you’re alone?” he asked.
“One for me, one for my secretary and assistant... You just need to call one car.”
Trying to suppress his urge to mock, Lu Xing understood—after all, he’d dealt with noble ladies and immortal cultivators.
He opened her contacts to find her assistant’s number when his own voice interrupted from the phone: “Your clothes fell on the floor. What now?”
“Probably kicked off last night. Go pick them up.”
“I can’t get down. I have no clothes to wear!!” she snarled. Naked, with another guy in the dorm, she found it unbearable.
Lu Xing was dumbfounded for a moment. “Wait, you’re a guy now?!”
“...”
