Chapter Five: Vengeance Fulfilled
(The signed contract has already been sent out, so those who wish to invest, hurry up~)
Time ticked away, and the humidity had nearly reached saturation; even the squad captain found it difficult to breathe.
Drip, drip—the beads of water gathered on the ceiling fell to the floor. The captain reached for his headset, intent on calling for backup from headquarters. Even if such a move might expose some of his illicit actions, it was still preferable to losing his life.
Just then, the droplets in the surveillance room abruptly froze on the walls. In the next instant, they fused into a column of water, piercing straight through the captain’s chest. It was only when the agony struck that he realized he was under attack. Alas, his life ebbed away too quickly; he had no strength left to act, managing only to feebly press the call button on his headset in vain.
Pike seeped upward from the floor, quietly watching the corpse that had collapsed.
“Hey! Hello?!”
Only after confirming that S.H.I.E.L.D. had received the captain’s dying transmission did Pike stomp the headset into fragments. At the end of it all, there must always be an audience.
Boom!
The next moment, endless torrents of water erupted from every corner of the building, as if the entire structure had been plunged into the depths of the sea.
Agents scattered throughout the facility desperately swam toward the exits, but as they struggled, a ghostly figure would inevitably appear behind them. A rusted harpoon would then effortlessly pierce their armor, killing each one in the water.
In the end, only Denor remained alive, barely hanging on. His head pressed against the ceiling, the water level beneath his neck still rising; it would not be long before he lost all space to breathe.
“Someone! Help!”
Denor shouted, hoping someone would appear to rescue him from this peril, but no savior came. Instead, Pike, having finished the slaughter, appeared before him.
In a haze, Denor glimpsed the visage of Sanders on Pike’s face.
“Spare me... Spare me...” Each time Denor spoke, seawater poured into his mouth.
Pike watched coldly, his form floating in the water, silently observing Denor’s futile struggle until he died.
Through Pike’s perspective, Yang Qiu witnessed the death of his final enemy. He sighed—vengeance had been achieved, but the dead could not return, and the adoptive parents conjured by the script were not those who had truly raised him for so many years.
Outside the building, Coulson led a squad of S.H.I.E.L.D. reinforcements, having run countless red lights to arrive. But upon reaching the scene, they were utterly helpless, for before their eyes was something that defied their understanding.
The modest two-story building was enveloped entirely in a deep blue sphere of seawater, its edges swirling at incredible speed. From afar, it resembled a massive whirlpool.
Creak, creak...
The structure within the water began to groan under unbearable strain, as if the sea above weighed thousands of tons.
Coulson glanced at the gun in his hand, feeling no urge to fire—what was the point in all this?
With a sudden hiss, an X-shaped symbol appeared on the ground. A flow of water, distinct from the rest, surged forth from it, tearing the entire building apart like thin paper.
At the heart of the shattered structure, Pike’s voice shimmered faintly. Before him lay the list of the dead, the final name gradually fading away.
“Fire! Fire!”
The command sounded, and the agents grabbed every weapon at hand, attacking the revealed enemy. Yet bullets, grenades, grenade launchers—none made a sound in the water, as if swallowed whole by a vast maw.
“I remember the day I died...”
Under Yang Qiu’s control, Pike began the epilogue.
“I remember who betrayed me...”
Pike slowly turned his face toward the agents outside, the sharp fangs in his gaping maw intimidating them all.
“I saw... I saw who was present then...”
“I know who aided the traitor...”
“I have come to return them to the embrace of the sea. The ocean is vast enough to hold every traitor...”
“And you... are fortunate... You are not on my list...”
“Keep it that way, or join me at the bottom of the sea!”
With his final warning, Pike’s apparition appeared before each agent, his razor-sharp teeth seeming close enough to touch their skin.
After issuing his last threat, Pike and the water vanished before Coulson and his team, leaving no trace. Had the empty ground not remained after the disappearance of the building, they might have believed it all a hallucination.
Yang Qiu was greatly satisfied: all enemies dead, the script’s evolution complete, and S.H.I.E.L.D.—always meddling—had been taught a lesson. Three achievements in one stroke; how wonderful.
Script Three: The Ghost of Blood Harbor
Synopsis: On the corpse of Sander, betrayed by his own brother, the avenger known as the Ghost of Blood Harbor was born into this world. His first act upon awakening was to sink all the traitors and their accomplices into the depths of the sea. Clearly, he accomplished his goal, but this is only the beginning...
Everyone, remember: never let your name appear on the list...
Script Evolution Result: Good
Script Evolution Products: Blue Pouch Fish, Pike the Ghost of Blood Harbor
Blue Pouch Fish: A carnivorous species capable of storing magical energy in its blue pouch, accumulating power from seawater. It has an extremely long natural growth cycle and forms schools during breeding season. Its sharp teeth can pierce the skin and bones of all marine creatures.
Pike the Ghost of Blood Harbor: A monster born at death, possessing the power to control water currents and move freely through most liquids. He uses the death list to track and hunt targets, attacking primarily with his harpoon and water manipulation. Beware: Pike harbors a deep hatred for traitors.
After reviewing his gains, Yang Qiu placed the third shining star beside the previous two. When he withdrew his consciousness to reality, he suddenly sensed that deep in the world’s oceans, a group of creatures had established a connection with him.
Following that thread, Yang Qiu discovered a school of newly born Blue Pouch Fish. He realized that he could create Blue Pouch Fish fry without initiating script evolution, and the cost seemed much lower than creating them within the script itself.
This was excellent news for Yang Qiu. Currently, script evolution was too inefficient; not only could he evolve only one script at a time, but he also had to spend ages preparing enough mental energy for each evolution. Now, the Blue Pouch Fish offered an alternative means of harvest.
Though their combat power was worlds apart, in terms of value, this school of Blue Pouch Fish was no less than Pike lurking beneath the harbor.
