Chapter 99: Casillas's Hell Army
While Jackie Chan was preparing his team of magicians, parts of the Middle East had already plunged into the flames of war.
In China, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia—four of the five great nations—had taken major actions, and with most regions still shrouded in ominous clouds, the world had already become tense.
Various chaotic rumors were rampant, and the most credible was that the Third World War was imminent.
The West believed the clouds hanging over their heads were caused by China, and they had reason for that: the clouds above China’s territory were the fewest and thinnest.
People within China and among the Bears who were unaware thought it was orchestrated by foreigners, after all, it had been years since China and Russia had entered a state of military control for the first time.
These great powers were still manageable, at least they hadn’t immediately fallen into chaos; some people even started playing “zero-yuan purchase” games, but for the Middle East, with this information combined with other factors, reopening fire had become inevitable.
“Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!” Jackie Chan slid sideways into a large pit, and several bullets whistled overhead.
“Someone’s here!” A man in the pit poked Jackie Chan, “Find another place to hide!”
“Make some room, make room.” Jackie Chan said, peeking out to look; the two sides fighting had not chased after him after his departure, as Jackie Chan was simply a sudden foreign intruder in their eyes.
“Speaking of which, haven’t the several forces around here stopped fighting? Why are they fighting again suddenly?” Jackie Chan asked in a low voice.
“Don’t mention it.” The man adjusted the gun in his hands, “Last night, many rumors about the end of the world flooded the internet, then these guys started scrambling for supplies, fighting over villages, and when they competed, firing was inevitable.”
“Just because of some rumors?” Jackie Chan didn’t know what to say, could only curse inwardly, “Damn it!”
Suddenly, the gunfire outside stopped, and this region became eerily quiet.
“The entrance to the ancient tomb isn’t far from here. Why don’t we hide there?” the man suggested quietly. He was the local guide Jackie Chan had found, originally planning to tour the ancient tomb together, but the strange weather yesterday had made them abandon that idea.
“Better not. We’ve only discovered one entrance so far. If there’s no other exit, going in would be like being buried alive.” Jackie Chan shook his head, rejecting his suggestion.
At this moment, Jackie Chan heard the sound of footsteps—zizizi—and the artillery fire stopped as well.
In such a bizarre situation, Jackie Chan raised his head again. The sight he saw this time made him unable to believe it.
Wherever his gaze reached, there were only little devils crawling on the ground, and all the soldiers who had been exchanging fire kept an eerie posture. Surging hellfire erupted from their seven orifices, and their souls were being gradually converted by the hellish laws into new little devils.
In hell, Mephistopheles had a gloomy expression. Although he was the demon lord, he couldn’t prevent others from borrowing the hell laws to extract hell power.
“Follow me!” Jackie Chan grabbed the guide and tried to leave this place, but the instant his hand touched the other, intense burning forced him to loosen his grip.
The guide now had his head tilted upward, sparks spraying from his mouth.
Seeing this, Jackie Chan immediately checked his own condition inwardly and found he too was affected, though he had little blood of the innocent on his hands, the “sin” on his body was thin, and with his profound internal energy, the hellfire hadn’t ignited yet—it was just sparks.
Hah! Jackie Chan slapped the guide’s chest heavily, channeling internal energy to stabilize his body and soul temporarily. Then Jackie Chan tucked the guide under his arm and charged madly toward the ancient tomb entrance with long strides.
Cassias, commanding the little devils on the verge of evolution, raised his head and looked toward the dust raised by Jackie Chan’s fleeing figure.
Cassias waved his right hand; a few golems from the hell army raised their hands, clusters of hellfire flying from their palms to smash toward Jackie Chan.
Feeling the scorching heat approaching from behind, Jackie Chan leaped suddenly, his right leg carving an arc in the air—the Divine Dragon Tail!
The hellfire exploded violently upon impact. Jackie Chan covered the guide’s face and fell to the ground, continuing to rush forward with his head covered.
Suddenly, he felt his hand being bitten. Looking down, a little devil had emerged from the guide’s body.
With a downward slash of his right hand, a simple hand chop severed the little devil’s neck completely. The severed head and body continued bouncing around, teeth gnashing into Jackie Chan’s hand without letting go.
Grasping the head and tearing it fiercely, after shedding some flesh and blood, Jackie Chan finally got rid of it.
But with this delay, the little devil army charging from behind was now close to Jackie Chan.
Looking at Jackie Chan fleeing in panic, Cassias in the hell army laughed heartily. Suddenly, his laughter halted, for all the little devils stopped and formed a half-circle. No matter how Cassias urged them, they wouldn’t advance further.
Humph!
After Cassias gave a cold snort, he stepped into the teleportation portal. He wanted to see what had frightened these brainless little devils.
Dong! Cassias crashed into an invisible barrier. The teleportation door hadn’t opened inside and was repelled by some invisible force.
Jackie Chan was sweating profusely with anxiety. Glancing back, the ancient tomb he had just discovered was right behind him. This tomb indeed possessed mysterious power, just as he had initially suspected.
Cassias, who had fallen to the ground, was both ashamed and furious. He was about to order the army to attack at all costs when he suddenly remembered something. He hesitated, took most of the army, and turned to leave the area. The hell army was still too immature; charging in would be like delivering heads, better to wait a while longer before crushing this place.
Jackie Chan gazed at the over a hundred little devils left behind by Cassias, weighed the options, and discarded the idea of fleeing. Rushing out would be no different from delivering oneself to death.
After much deliberation, Jackie Chan turned around and entered the ancient tomb. Since the ancient tomb had repelled those entities, perhaps there was a method inside to help him escape his predicament.
As he stepped into the entrance of the ancient tomb, the shattered divine kingdom above the Middle East was completely destroyed. All accumulated faith energies and those divine kingdom fragments composed of energy surged into the ancient tomb under Yang Qiu’s guidance, of course including Ethan, who still hadn’t awakened.
