Chapter Sixty-Six: Not the Red Sister I Knew!
Faced with Su Li's impotent rage, I smiled lightly and replied in an easy tone, "Since you can't bear to leave, then stay. Let's keep playing."
Su Li's face instantly turned ashen. She glared at me fiercely, as if she wanted to devour me alive. She gritted her teeth, then finally gave a cold snort and sat down again. "Fine. Since you say so, I'll see this through with you!"
Gao Youde watched the scene, his expression growing even darker. His gaze shifted back and forth between Su Li and me, clearly weighing his options.
Suddenly, he let out a cold laugh and turned to me. "Wang Hu, since you all are so enthusiastic, I might as well accompany you to the end. But since this is a wager, shouldn't we raise the stakes?"
Lu Yier arched his brows, clearly surprised by Gao Youde's suggestion. "Oh? What does Boss Gao mean?"
A fierce glint flashed in Gao Youde's eyes. "It's simple. Since we're all here, why not double the bet? Higher stakes, bigger wins and losses—wouldn't that make things more interesting?"
My heart tightened; I knew Gao Youde was trying to pressure us by increasing the wager.
Su Li obviously realized this as well. But now, if I didn’t leave, neither could she. She couldn’t take the money with her; it was all for nothing!
I smiled slightly and answered without hesitation, "Alright, since Boss Gao is so invested, we'll play to the end. But I have a condition."
Gao Youde narrowed his eyes, his voice cold. "What condition?"
I replied calmly, "Since we're doubling the stakes, we need a fair witness. Lu Yier, as the representative of the casino, you shouldn't object?"
Lu Yier nodded in agreement. "No problem. I’ll act as the witness to ensure fairness and justice."
Gao Youde snorted coldly. "Fine. It's settled then." He turned toward Old Leopard Chen and Red Sister, his tone icy. "You two aren't afraid to follow, are you?"
Old Leopard Chen sneered, a hint of disdain in his eyes. "In Ruili, I'm a prominent stone gambler. How could I not follow?" His words brimmed with confidence and provocation, as if declaring his resolve to everyone present.
Gao Youde nodded in satisfaction, then looked at Red Sister, a vicious glint in his eyes. "I know Red Sister's temperament. She’ll definitely continue!"
However, just as he finished speaking, Red Sister abruptly stood up and looked firmly at Lu Yier. "I won’t take the money. I’m leaving!"
Her words exploded like a thunderclap. Everyone was stunned. No one expected Red Sister to withdraw! Her decision instantly tightened the atmosphere in the room.
Su Li was dumbfounded as well, clearly not expecting Red Sister to retreat at this moment.
Her expression grew even uglier as she looked at Red Sister, gritting her teeth. "Red Sister, what do you mean by this?"
Red Sister shot Su Li a cold glance, her tone resolute and brooking no argument. "I have my own plans. I don't need to explain to anyone." With that, she turned to leave.
Gao Youde’s face darkened. He obviously hadn’t anticipated Red Sister’s sudden withdrawal. A fierce light flashed in his eyes. "Red Sister, you’d better think this through. If you leave now, bear the consequences!"
Red Sister paused and looked back with a cold smile. "Gao Youde, don't try to scare me with your words. I leave upright and stand tall. I have nothing to fear."
Her voice was unwavering and indifferent; she had clearly made up her mind.
Lu Yier frowned slightly, but as the witness he had to remain neutral. He nodded at Red Sister. "Since you’ve decided to withdraw, please do as you wish."
Red Sister snorted, then left the room without a backward glance.
Her departure made the atmosphere even tenser, and everyone’s gaze shifted to Gao Youde and Old Leopard Chen.
Gao Youde’s face was livid, but he quickly regained his composure and turned to me. "Wang Hu, it seems you don’t have many friends."
I smiled calmly, unruffled. "Boss Gao, gambling is about skill. Whether I have many friends or not is irrelevant."
Su Li composed herself as well, sneering. "Since that's settled, let's rest a bit and continue soon."
Gao Youde nodded, a fierce glint in his eyes. "Good. Since everyone is so eager, let's proceed."
"Since Boss Gao is playing personally, I'll accompany you to the end," I replied coolly, though I was already calculating my next steps in my mind.
Now, with Red Sister gone, only three sides remained in the stone gambling contest.
The battle would only grow fiercer.
Lu Yier cleared his throat and broke the silence. "Since Red Sister has withdrawn, her funds—4.9 million—will be split among the remaining three, each receiving 1.63 million."
Hearing this, Gao Youde’s expression turned cold. He watched Red Sister’s departing figure and laughed, "Safe travels, Red Sister. No need for farewells!"
After that, Gao Youde snorted and swept his blade-like gaze over Su Li and me. "Now the contest is even more interesting."
"You two youngsters are quite something, even driving out someone like Red Sister!"
Su Li’s expression remained sour, but she forced herself to stay composed, only giving a cold snort.
Then she looked at me. "Wang Hu, you’d better win. If you drag me down with you, let me tell you, I know you inside out. Neither of us will have it easy!"
"Since everyone agrees, let’s continue," I said coolly. "No need for empty words."
Gao Youde nodded, a fierce glint in his eyes. "Alright, let’s see who is the true winner."
At Lu Yier’s announcement, the four of us stood up and headed toward the stone gambling room.
The audience, who hadn’t been waiting long, was already eagerly anticipating the next round.
We entered the stone gambling room, tension thick in the air.
On one side, the remaining hundred or so raw stones sat under a green mesh cover.
On the landscape table before us, the small train waited quietly, ready to carry the stones out.
Lu Yier stood in the center, cleared his throat, and formally announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, the contest continues. Next, we will tally each participant’s funds."
Now, Su Li and I had 61.63 million, which, by the rules, was discounted to 30.8 million.
Red Sister had already failed and left.
Gao Youde had 22 million.
Old Leopard Chen was close to 11 million.
According to the rules, with Red Sister gone, the ranking would restart, and the lowest would stand at the first position.
Old Leopard Chen, ever the veteran, didn’t waste words and went straight to the first spot.
To be honest, I was still puzzled by Red Sister’s sudden departure.
In my eyes, she had always been a domineering woman. Why did she choose to retreat so abruptly today?
It was completely unlike the Red Sister I knew!
