I retreated while fighting and said, “Let’s drag this boss over to the stairs. I’ll give you some mana potions. Make sure you keep healing me—if I die, it’s over.”

She agreed. My health was dropping so fast that any delay in her healing meant life or death. I estimated that the Ice Queen was at least a level 60 gold-tier boss, otherwise she wouldn’t be able to take away over 1,000 health in one hit. Xuehan’s curse lowered the boss’s defense, so my attack output was much higher than usual. Two hours later, the Ice Queen’s health was down to less than one-tenth, but her attacks grew more intense, throwing both Xuehan and me into a panic.

“This is bad—she’s mutating!” Xuehan shouted.

I paused. The Ice Queen had stopped attacking, her body glowing with a sky-blue light. Her long dress swiftly billowed out like waves, as if a powerful force was surging from beneath it. Ice blocks and snow on the valley floor were violently scattered to the sides.

“We’re doomed,” I muttered bitterly.

Xuehan was flustered, nearly at a loss. “What do we do? Run or keep fighting?”

“Keep fighting. We’re all in.”

Although both were gold-tier bosses above level 50, the Rhinoceros King evolved into that status, while the Ice Queen was originally gold-tier. In other words, the Rhinoceros King was essentially a level 45 boss, not magically transformed into a golden phoenix by a mere golden feather. That explained the vast difference in their power.

After several more missed attacks, Xuehan couldn’t hold back and said, “Lin Fan, are you really going to keep fighting? You’re hitting only five times per minute.”

I was anxious too. Calculating, I reassured her, “Xuehan, estimate how much health the boss has left.”
