Chapter 100: "Can Classmates Kiss Each Other?"
Gu Shiyan, unwilling to back down, strode forward. Yet, unlike Shen Que, he couldn't naturally call out "Brother Zhou."
"Shen Que! Long time no see! Come on, let me treat you and my Star to a great meal," Luo Zhou said, throwing an arm around Shen Que.
Gu Shiyan froze in place—his Star? The sky had fallen.
He stared at Luo Xing in disbelief. When had she gotten together with this dessert guy?
The thought of how shamelessly he’d claimed last night that she still liked him made Gu Shiyan’s heart twist even more painfully.
So it was true—Luo Xing really did blush whenever she saw someone good-looking.
Gu Shiyan sized up Luo Zhou standing beside Shen Que. He was indeed handsome.
What hurt even more was that he actually thought this man suited Luo Xing!
Their brows and eyes resembled each other. Even their bright, sunny aura was strikingly alike.
Infuriating!
Luo Zhou noticed someone eyeing him persistently and turned his gaze, widening his eyes. "You! Aren’t you the kidnap—"
Luo Xing tugged at Luo Zhou’s hand. "Brother, he’s my classmate. We’re on the same team. His name is Gu Shiyan."
Privately, Luo Xing didn’t want Luo Zhou to bring up that embarrassing incident.
Gu Shiyan felt as if a stone lodged in his throat.
Luo Xing actually called him "brother"?
And said they were just classmates?
Gu Shiyan fixed his gaze on Luo Xing. "Can classmates kiss?"
Luo Xing: ?
Shen Que: ??
Luo Zhou: ???
"Who did you kiss!" Luo Zhou lunged at Gu Shiyan, but Luo Xing held him back. "Brother, no, he was just teasing you."
Luo Xing shot Gu Shiyan a glare.
Luo Zhou clearly didn’t believe it—especially since last time, Gu Shiyan had carried his sister off right in front of him, and now he was talking about kissing.
Did he think her real brother didn’t exist?
Luo Zhou looked at his sister.
"Are you dating him? And hiding it from the family?" Luo Zhou stared.
Luo Xing felt a pang of guilt. She thought, since they’d already broken up, there was no need to mention it or explain to the family.
But Gu Shiyan misunderstood again because of his words. "Luo Xing, you don’t even admit we ever dated?"
Gu Shiyan’s heart was shattered.
"Star? You actually dated him?" Luo Zhou turned to his sister. "Don’t think you can fool me. This guy is exactly your type—the same kind you chased after in high school."
Luo Xing grew even more embarrassed.
That so-called idol Luo Zhou was referring to—
She had secretly saved a photo of Gu Shiyan, which Luo Zhou had accidentally seen, and she’d lied, saying it was a newly debuted pop star.
With Gu Shiyan’s face, Luo Zhou hadn’t doubted her, just muttered that the idol looked icy and probably had a bad temper, warning Luo Xing not to get too invested.
Fortunately, Luo Zhou had only glanced at it once and had mostly forgotten; otherwise, she’d be even more mortified standing here now.
"We did date, but we’ve broken up," Luo Xing admitted, forced by her brother’s pressure.
Luo Zhou was taken aback, worried about scaring his sister, so he softened his voice. "Do Mom and Dad know?"
Gu Shiyan suddenly noticed something off.
This man’s terms of endearment seemed a bit too intimate.
Luo Xing shook her head and wrapped her arms around Luo Zhou’s arm, pleading, "Brother, please don’t tell Mom and Dad, I’m begging you."
Gu Shiyan felt another stab to his heart.
Shen Que, quietly observing, also realized Gu Shiyan must have misunderstood something.
But, for his own reasons, he didn’t clarify.
"Let’s go. I’ll treat your team to dinner, thanks for taking care of Star," Luo Zhou said generously, covering the meal for the whole team.
He ordered two cars.
Luo Xing watched as Gu Shiyan, sly as a fox, forced Shen Que out and seized the seat next to her in the car.
Shen Que, gentleman that he was, wouldn’t stoop to shoving, so Gu Shiyan got his way.
Gu Shiyan took the front passenger seat; Luo Xing and Luo Zhou sat in the back.
Gu Shiyan’s gaze lingered on Luo Xing through the rearview mirror.
"What are you staring at?" Luo Zhou snapped.
Gu Shiyan scoffed and withdrew his gaze.
So the legitimate boyfriend had the upper hand, huh?
Luo Xing also sensed the strange tension in the car.
If only she’d chosen to ride with Qi Changbai instead.
She heard Gu Shiyan answer a phone call midway.
Whatever the matter was, it seemed serious. He asked the driver to pull over and got out in a hurry.
Luo Xing noticed how rushed he was.
"Now that he’s gone, can you tell your brother about your situation?" Luo Zhou pressed.
Luo Xing shrank back. "Actually, it’s nothing..."
Under her brother’s intense gaze, Luo Xing reluctantly confessed how she’d chased Gu Shiyan after starting college.
"What! You chased him?" Luo Zhou could hardly comprehend his precious sister running after someone else!
...
Gu Shiyan took a taxi straight to the airport.
Originally, the school had planned for them to return tomorrow.
But he couldn’t wait.
The call had come from Lu Yuanyi. The person who made the post had been identified—it was Su Mo.
At the same time, he received another message: the one who hired trolls online to stir up rumors about his fighting was Ke Yu.
Gu Shiyan was quite surprised.
He hadn’t expected Ke Yu to have the guts, but what shocked him even more—
Su Mo.
Su Mo’s grandmother was seriously ill and needed a lot of money. After Gu Liang heard, he paid the medical bills despite Su Wan’s objections.
Gu Shiyan hadn’t paid much attention to it; to him, spending money to save an old woman’s life was nothing.
But now, Su Mo had used the money from the Gu family to harm others.
And the person she hurt was Luo Xing.
This was something Gu Shiyan could not tolerate. When the plane landed in Northern City, the sky was pitch black.
He didn’t pause.
He returned to the Gu family home and went upstairs to ring Su Mo’s doorbell.
Gu Liang and Su Wan were already asleep; the vast villa was silent.
A servant asked if Gu Shiyan wanted a late-night snack.
He shook his head and continued knocking on Su Mo’s door.
Su Mo was awake.
She knew Gu Shiyan was outside; she knew he would discover the truth and come find her.
She straightened her nightgown and got up to open the door.
She expected to be met with his furious shouting.
But there was none.
He remained calm.
So calm, he was almost indifferent.
"Su Mo, don’t think I’ll let you off just because of your pitiful background."
Su Mo felt humiliated; Gu Shiyan’s words, though free of obscenities, pierced her heart like poison-tipped needles.
"If you have so much money, then your grandmother must not need it anymore."
Su Mo suddenly looked up at him. His face was cold and distant. She knew he meant it.
He really would have Gu Liang stop paying her grandmother’s medical bills.
"Uncle Gu wouldn’t," Su Mo shook her head.
Gu Shiyan, right in front of her, took out his phone and dialed Gu Liang’s private assistant.
The assistant handled Gu Liang’s personal affairs and was always on call.
The call went through quickly.
Su Mo listened as Gu Shiyan ordered the assistant to stop her grandmother’s medical payments. The assistant paused only briefly before agreeing.
Su Mo, unable to stand, wobbled and shouted, "Uncle Gu wouldn’t do this! He doesn’t even like Luo Xing! Even if you stop the payments now, tomorrow Uncle Gu will have the doctor keep treating my grandmother!"
