Chapter 56: Slaughtering the Wolf
“Get the hell out of my sight!”
The person in charge wore a face of fury; without another word, he kicked the security captain to the ground, sending him sprawling. He then followed up with several more ruthless kicks.
“With eyesight as poor as yours, don’t bother coming to work again. Go to the finance department, collect your wages, and get lost!”
The security captain’s face was filled with bewilderment. He never imagined that simply doing his job would provoke such overwhelming anger.
But regardless, at that moment, he was truly panicked.
He had clawed his way up in the foundation’s security team for years, finally earning the position of captain, with a monthly salary of over ten thousand.
This was the capital, after all. Even working twelve-hour shifts in a factory, screwing bolts every day, the most he could make was six thousand a month.
But as a security captain, he didn’t have to patrol daily, meals and lodging were provided, and after all the deductions for insurance and pension, he still took home ten thousand!
Such pay was rare even in the entire city, and only organizations flush with cash, like the foundation, could offer it.
Yet today, over such a trivial matter, he was being thrown out.
“Manager Tang, it’s a misunderstanding! It was this Mr. Sun who told me that man had sneaked in to freeload, so I was just following procedure!”
Without hesitation, the security captain clung to Manager Tang’s leg, face twisted with misery, pleading for himself.
And he shifted the blame for offending the guest squarely onto Sun Shuai without a second thought.
“Who said that? Him?” The man surnamed Tang immediately looked over at Sun Shuai, a look of disdain on his face.
“That brat is nothing but a playboy, good for nothing except lounging in brothels all day. Never mind that he’s from the Sun family—even if you were the prince of the capital, I’d still look down on you!”
“Words from someone like him are no better than farts, and you believed him?”
“What the hell do you mean by that!”
Sun Shuai’s face flushed red with shame and anger, his heart burning with rage.
This manager was completely disregarding his dignity, exposing his disgrace in front of everyone.
He had donated fifteen million, after all—wasn’t Tang afraid he’d take it back?
“You want to know what I mean? That’s exactly what I mean.”
Manager Tang sneered.
“A young master from a wealthy family, no real career, spends his allowance every month trying to please the lowest of women—what a joke!”
“You—”
Sun Shuai tried to retort, but Tang cut him off with a barrage:
“Don’t think I don’t know that fifteen million is almost all you have.”
“When others donate, it’s for charity, and the money they give is just a drop in the bucket.”
“You, on the other hand, emptied your savings just to try and impress Yang Tianhou, for the sake of a little face, which no one even values.”
“But look—does Yang Tianhou even acknowledge you, you clown!”
At these words, Sun Shuai felt his blood rush to his head.
The sting of those words pierced deep into his fragile heart.
“You’re looking for death!”
Without another word, eyes bloodshot, Sun Shuai swung a punch at Manager Tang.
But years of indulgence had left him weak and powerless; his punch was feeble, easily dodged.
“Idiot. Someone, get him out of here.” Manager Tang smiled with contempt.
At his command, the security guards rushed forward, pinned Sun Shuai to the ground with riot batons, and finally hauled him away like a pig.
In the vast banquet hall, Sun Shuai’s howls echoed like a pig being slaughtered.
Laughter erupted all around.
“Sun Shuai really is a fool—fifteen million down the drain, and now he’s lost all face in front of everyone. What a disgrace to the Sun family!”
“That’s not all. From now on, even the city’s circle of playboys won’t accept him.”
“If I were so humiliated, I’d rather die.”
Heirs of prominent families and wealthy guests whispered to each other.
“Throw him out as well!” Manager Tang then pointed at the security captain.
Amidst more wailing, the security captain was also ejected from the banquet hall.
“Mr. Ye, are you satisfied now?”
Manager Tang then turned to Ye Tian with a respectful gaze.
“Thank you for stepping in.” Ye Tian neither confirmed nor denied, simply giving a slight nod.
Manager Tang, however, seemed quite pleased.
That was enough.
Such a figure, who hid his true identity, wealthy and powerful, with depths impossible to fathom—this was the kind of man worth currying favor with.
As for someone like Sun Shuai, befriending him would only bring shame.
“Mr. Ye, it’s true what they say: the more famous a man is, the more trouble he attracts.”
At that moment, Yang Yiqiu approached, smiling as he offered Ye Tian a glass of champagne.
Since when was fame synonymous with trouble?
Ye Tian felt his scalp tingle; hardly anyone here even knew him, yet he had somehow become the center of a storm.
“Wow! The Queen herself is pouring wine—just who is this man?”
“For Yang Tianhou to pour wine herself, even the richest families have no such privilege. Not even the heads of the three great clans could make her budge.”
“I remember once when the Tang family’s young master from the capital came here on vacation, only then did she pour him a drink, and that was only out of deference to the Tang family’s power.”
“But she seems genuinely close to this Mr. Ye, their manner is intimate.”
Everyone began to speculate—could this young man be the descendant of some hidden family?
Or perhaps he was the Queen’s childhood sweetheart!
That simple, unintentional gesture sent ripples through the crowd; suddenly, no one cared about the donations anymore, all eyes turned to Ye Tian.
“Now you’ve really stirred up trouble. Everyone is watching us.”
Accepting the champagne from Yang Yiqiu, Ye Tian managed a wry smile.
He hadn’t expected that, even with his altered appearance, fate would not let him escape his destiny.
In the metaphysics of Ziwei astrology, the term “Killer Wolf” meant this: when the three fates—Qisha, Po Jun, and Tan Lang—converged in the destiny palace, it formed the so-called “Killer Wolf” configuration.
Those with this fate would experience great rises and falls, forever beset by turmoil and change—be it disputes or wars, or something else entirely, there would never be peace.
In other words, the Ye family’s destruction was also related to his fate.
He only understood this after inheriting the memories of Master Baoshan.
To break free of the Killer Wolf fate required special methods to change one’s destiny, but Ye Tian’s cultivation was not yet enough, so he could only accept it.
Fortunately, after Manager Tang greeted him, he quickly returned to the stage to resume his duties, drawing the crowd’s focus away once more.
“The evening’s program is ruined. If nothing else, I’ll head back.”
With that, and leaving a bank card behind, Ye Tian made his farewells and left alone.
He had originally intended to extract some useful information from Sun Shuai.
He never expected such a farce would unfold, ruining his plan completely, and so he could only go home to sleep.
