Violets on the Heart Chrysanthemum Purple Night 1302 words 2026-03-20 06:03:04

“World-famous racing driver—the wickedly charming young lord, Arthur Rivers—has arrived in our city and was warmly welcomed by his fans at the airport…” The news report drifted from the television, startling Yingyue. He had arrived so soon.

On screen, Arthur’s golden shoulder-length hair shimmered with a metallic luster beneath the flashes, making his already captivating features even more dazzling. His deep, sky-blue eyes glistened with a translucent light, as if he were born a seductive fox spirit, stealing souls with a single, unintentional glance. Yet a trace of indifference lingered in his gaze. His rose-hued lips curved ever so slightly, an expression both careless and cool, a hint of chill escaping the corner of his mouth.

Unfortunately, no one noticed this. In everyone’s eyes, there was only that perfect nobleman, as enchanting as Daji, the god of the racing world.

“Yingyue, there’s a collaboration with K Corporation today that needs your personal attention. I’m on my way to pick you up,” Xiahou Yu said over the phone.

“All right, I’ll wait for you.”

A few minutes later—

“Yingyue, let’s go.” Xiahou Yu looked down at the silent Lan Yingyue. “What’s wrong? You seem deeply troubled,” he asked with concern.

“He’s back,” she said gravely.

Xiahou Yu stiffened. What was destined to come had arrived at last. All he could offer was comfort. “I will protect you,” he promised, his words solemn as a vow, warming Yingyue’s heart.

In the elevator—

“Did you hear? The world’s most handsome, coolest, most charismatic and talented racer—Arthur Rivers—is here. I wish I could see him in person!” a female fan exclaimed, her eyes shining with idolization.

“What are you talking about? Arthur is already at the diamond tier, and you’re still thinking of the gold tier!” another fan replied, discontented.

“Oh, please. No ordinary words can describe my Arthur—he’s like a god descended to earth…” the third interjected, her worshipful tone full of sighs, pink hearts brimming in her gaze.

“Yes…”

“Exactly…”

The elevator was thick with the heady air of adoration, making it hard for Yingyue to breathe. Xiahou Yu’s arm tightened gently around her.

“I heard Arthur has a habit!” the third fan said after regaining her composure.

“What is it? Tell us!”

“Arthur likes beautiful women! Whenever he attends events, there are always beauties accompanying him.” The fan’s eyes sparkled with pink hearts.

“Oh really? Then I must dress up beautifully.” Another woman hurriedly took out her makeup kit and mirror, fussing over her appearance.

At the mention of Arthur’s name, Yingyue trembled slightly. Xiahou Yu’s expression grew grave as he drew her protectively to his side. She looked terribly pale, so fragile it made one ache with pity.

They hurried out of the elevator and made their way to K Corporation. Throughout the entire meeting, Yingyue was distracted and uneasy.

“All right, it’s settled then. Looking forward to our cooperation.”

“Yes, looking forward to it.”

As they stepped out of K Corporation, Yingyue said wearily, “Yu, I want to go back.”

“Shall I accompany you?”

“No, I’d like to be alone for a while.”

She walked in a daze toward the hotel, her eyes wandering over the crowded streets. People bustled to and fro, each knowing what they wanted and striving for it. Unlike her, letting the smallest things drain her spirit, drifting through her days lost and aimless—so unlike herself. Shaking her head, she returned to the hotel, got off the elevator, and walked toward her room.

Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks, staring in disbelief at the figure outside her door. That tall, slender silhouette leaned casually against the doorway, golden hair shimmering with a metallic gleam under the dim wall lamp.
