Chapter 42: You Know It in Your Heart
Su Wan stood frozen in place.
Mu Yunshen didn’t look at her. He simply took a seat in the chair.
Gritting her teeth, Su Wan turned and walked out.
Pi Zi was standing right outside the door. When Su Wan suddenly opened it, a trace of embarrassment flashed across his face. “Sister-in-law…”
“His hand is injured. Help him take care of it,” Su Wan tossed out these words and turned to leave.
Pi Zi was momentarily stunned, then stepped inside. “Brother Shen, your hand is hurt…”
Before Pi Zi could finish, the man in front of him swept past like a gust of wind, walking straight out the door!
Su Wan had just hailed a taxi. Before she could get in, a hand yanked her back sharply. Her foot was still injured, and the force made her gasp in pain.
“Are you getting in or not?” the driver frowned at the two of them.
“Yes—”
“No!” Mu Yunshen cut her off, and with that, dragged Su Wan away.
Her foot ached, and his grip was far stronger than hers. All she could do was grit her teeth and say, “What are you doing? Let go!”
It was as if Mu Yunshen hadn’t heard her. He pulled her into a side alley before finally releasing her.
Su Wan’s wrist was marked from his grasp, and she bit back her anger. “What exactly do you want?”
Mu Yunshen stood with his back to her, silent for a long time. At last, he turned, his voice resolute. “I won’t let you marry Wen Shaoran!”
So forceful and domineering was his declaration that Su Wan was momentarily stunned. Then she took a deep breath. “That has nothing to do with you…”
“How could it not?” Mu Yunshen said bitterly. “That man is willing to stoop to such despicable means just to have you. What kind of husband would he make? If you insist on marrying him, I’ll tie you up myself and see how you attend the wedding!”
It was such a childish threat, yet he spoke with such unwavering determination that all Su Wan’s anger seemed to dissolve.
She turned away, refusing to look at him. “Mu Yunshen, what right do you have to ruin my marriage? Didn’t you say we had nothing to do with each other anymore? What do you call this?”
Mu Yunshen said nothing.
Su Wan glanced at him, then drew a deep breath. “But, whatever the case, about last night… thank you. From today on, let’s not see each other again.”
She turned to leave, but Mu Yunshen grabbed her arm. “Why?!”
Su Wan hadn’t forgotten that night, what Gu Yan had said to her over the phone.
She looked at the man before her. “So, Mu Yunshen, are you trying to get back together with me now?”
Her directness made Mu Yunshen’s expression flicker, but soon he replied, “Get back together? When did we break up? I never agreed to that!”
“If we didn’t break up, then what is Gu Yan to you?” Su Wan refused to hold back any longer.
“Gu Yan? I’ve told you, there’s nothing between us!”
“Nothing? Even after you slept together?” Su Wan stared at him, unwavering.
Mu Yunshen’s face darkened. “Slept together? Who slept with whom?”
“You know perfectly well!”
“Know what? Su Wan, you’d better make yourself clear today!”
Su Wan drew a deep breath. “That night, you were drunk, and you slept with Gu Yan, didn’t you?”
“Me and her? Impossible!” Mu Yunshen didn’t even hesitate. “That’s absurd. Who told you that?”
“I did.”
A voice rang out.
