Chapter 43: Please Let Us Be

Su Wan jerked her head around, just in time to see Gu Yan standing there, watching them.

“What are you talking about?” Mu Yunshen’s gaze fixed on Gu Yan, his brows instantly furrowing.

Gu Yan bit her lip and stepped forward. “Shen, have you forgotten? That night, when you were drunk, we…”

“Impossible!”

Before Gu Yan could finish, Mu Yunshen cut her off, his voice steely. “I would never have touched you!”

His unequivocal denial made Su Wan’s brows knit together. Sensing this, Gu Yan quickly added, “How could it be impossible? I have photos!”

With that, she produced her phone and revealed the pictures. When Su Wan saw the two of them lying together in bed, she suddenly regained her composure.

Gu Yan looked at Mu Yunshen through gritted teeth. “Even now, you still refuse to admit it?”

Su Wan turned to Mu Yunshen.

He was frowning deeply. He looked at Su Wan, clearly wanting to say something, but nothing came out.

Gu Yan bit her lip, looking at him. “Shen, I know you were drunk, but in the end… I am already yours. I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to be a burden to you…”

“So why are you willing to say it now?”

Su Wan’s voice cut in. Gu Yan’s face changed slightly as she turned to see Su Wan watching her closely. “Well?”

“I… I know this will affect your relationship, but no matter what, Shen and I already… Miss Su, please let us be together, will you?” Gu Yan pleaded, her eyes brimming with pitiful tears. Yet in Su Wan’s eyes, all her illusions had already shattered.

Su Wan merely smiled. “Let you be together? Mu Yunshen, is that what you want as well?”

Mu Yunshen said nothing.

Su Wan nodded. “No problem. I’ll step aside for you. But Mu Yunshen, let me remind you of one thing: if she truly didn’t want to use this against you, why take those photos at all? Of course, whatever tangle you two have has nothing to do with me.”

With that, Su Wan turned to leave, but Mu Yunshen suddenly reached out and grabbed her.

Su Wan, at the very end of her patience, shook him off forcefully.

Almost at the same time, Gu Yan clung to Mu Yunshen’s arm. “Shen, I just… I was afraid you’d leave. Everything I’ve done—everything—is because I love you!”

Su Wan had no desire to be an audience any longer and walked away.

This time, at last, Mu Yunshen did not stop her.

Su Wan’s phone and bag were both missing, so she had no choice but to hail a taxi to the office and ask Linda to come down and pay the fare.

“President Su!”

Su Wan was just heading toward her own office when Linda’s voice suddenly called out.

Su Wan turned around.

“Um… President Wen is here. He’s waiting for you in your office.”

Su Wan paused in her tracks, then turned and walked toward the conference room. “Have security throw him out. Right now. Immediately.”

All her years in the business world, and this was the first time Su Wan had ever thrown someone out so unceremoniously. Linda didn’t hesitate and promptly notified security.

Su Wan sat in the conference room, and soon she heard Wen Shaoran’s voice.

“Su Wan, I’m telling you, this isn’t over!”

Su Wan felt as if her head was about to explode from the pain, so she ignored him entirely. But soon after, her phone rang.

Su Yichuan’s furious voice erupted on the line, “Where are you? Get back here right now!”
