Chapter Sixty-Nine: The Little Witch's Fury
Danielle Yang had already thought everything through before choosing Long Fei. With a man like him, she knew it was only a matter of time before he brought another woman home. But this time, it happened far too quickly. She had only been with Long Fei for two days, and now he was involved with Ye Qian. He claimed she was his bodyguard, but now it seemed she was guarding his bed instead.
So Danielle felt uneasy. It wasn’t that she hadn’t anticipated all of this; it was just that everything happened so suddenly, so fast. She hadn’t even had time to savor much happiness before finding herself thrown into the midst of another war between women.
Long Fei walked over to Ye Qian. Her eyes were tightly shut, but her eyelashes quivered, and her face, along with her neck, was flushed red.
Truth be told, Ye Qian’s assets weren’t lacking—just that they developed a bit slowly. Long Fei didn’t lift the covers to see for himself, but just looking at the exposed skin, he felt a wave of heat sweep through him.
“Lolita,” was the first word that came to Long Fei’s mind.
Then he fell into a dilemma. Part of him wanted to take advantage of Ye Qian, but then he thought of Danielle next door, likely tense and on edge. He remembered Ye Qian wasn’t someone to be trifled with, and so he hesitated. Still, to let the opportunity pass felt like a waste, and his body’s needs made him even more uncomfortable.
Ye Qian, who had kept her eyes closed for a while, was both embarrassed and anxious. She gripped the bedsheets tightly. Though not fully prepared, she had resolved to let Long Fei take liberties with her if he wished—anything to say goodbye to the “little steamed bun.” She was ready to take the plunge.
Long Fei’s breathing was audible, but he made no move. Ye Qian grew curious, wondering if the treatment had begun. If so, why didn’t she feel anything? She cracked open her eyes.
Long Fei was still there, but his brows were furrowed, lost in thought, as if troubled by some question. His gaze was fixed on Ye Qian’s chest, but there was no focus in his eyes—a classic case of “body in the camp, heart in another.”
Ye Qian grew anxious, fearing something was wrong with her body, posing a challenge for Long Fei. Nervously, she asked, “Long Fei, why aren’t you starting? Is it really that serious?”
Long Fei snapped out of his reverie. After a fierce inner struggle, he abandoned his original plan and replied seriously, “It’s a bit serious. I’m considering what method to use to help you!”
Ye Qian was confused. “What do you mean? I don’t get it.”
Long Fei retreated, smiling, “Here’s the thing. I was going to use massage to help with your chest, but after thinking it over, there’s a faster, more effective method. So I decided to use a herbal remedy instead. The only question is, are you afraid of taking medicine? It’s a bit bitter, most people can’t stand the taste.”
Ye Qian’s face turned green. This was outrageous! If there was another method, why had she almost exposed herself to him? How could he be so shameless?
“Long Fei! You bastard, I’m going to kill you!” Ye Qian leapt from the bed, realized she was only in her underwear, and hurriedly dressed while cursing, “You’re despicable! If there’s a herbal remedy, why torment me like this? I hate you! Tonight, I’ll fight you to the death!”
Long Fei dashed for the door, closing it behind him as he pleaded, “Come on, Ye Qian, be reasonable! I was thinking of you—I just thought you might not like traditional medicine. It really is bitter, most people can’t handle it!”
It was a flimsy excuse, and both Long Fei and Ye Qian knew it.
Ye Qian chased after him, shouting, “Nonsense! You’re just a scoundrel, clearly trying to take advantage of me, and now you’re trying to talk your way out of it!”
Long Fei suddenly felt wronged, running circles around the living room with Ye Qian in pursuit. “You’re mistaken! If I really wanted to take advantage, I had the chance. And you wouldn’t have suspected anything, right? Besides, I wasn’t even interested!” The last part he muttered under his breath, but Ye Qian, reading his lips, knew exactly what he’d said, fueling her anger even more. She hurled a slipper at him, missing him but hitting the TV with a loud clang. Fortunately, the TV was sturdy and unharmed.
This was bad. The little witch was in full fury—it was time to run for his life!
The living room was far too dangerous; it wouldn’t be surprising if she grabbed a kitchen knife next. Long Fei made a quick escape to Danielle’s room, pounding on the door and calling for help.
“Let’s see where you run! If I don’t skin you alive tonight, I’m not your auntie!” Ye Qian threw another slipper at him.
Danger! Quick dodge.
Ye Qian’s aim was poor, so Long Fei dodged easily. At that moment, Danielle opened her door, and the slipper naturally struck the door before bouncing onto Danielle herself, who then frowned in annoyance.
Long Fei was stunned—he’d just said Ye Qian’s aim was terrible, yet the slipper managed to hit Danielle right where it hurt. The force was mostly absorbed by the door, but still, what a coincidence!
Danielle actually wanted to rub the spot herself, but seeing Long Fei and Ye Qian staring at her, all she could do was blush and complain, “What time is it? Will you two ever stop? Some people want to sleep!”
She retreated into her room and slammed the door, leaning against it, massaging the sore spot. Danielle’s mood wasn’t bad; she’d only said that because the scene was awkward. Now, thinking that Long Fei wouldn’t be giving Ye Qian a massage tonight, Danielle felt a bit of secret joy. To her, Long Fei might be a rogue, might never give her a home, but he still had some basic decency. Tonight, he hadn’t actually taken advantage of Ye Qian, and she saw that as a sign of responsibility. She fancied that his inner struggle had been because of her—otherwise, why would he pass up such an easy opportunity?
Feeling pleased, Danielle lay in bed, wide awake. Her attitude had changed completely; now, she watched Long Fei and Ye Qian’s entanglement as if it were a drama. The sounds from outside only amused her, though she couldn’t see the action.
Ye Qian covered her mouth, eyes wide and fixed on Danielle’s door, brows tightly drawn in a frightened expression. She hadn’t expected to accidentally hurt Danielle, and though scolded, she felt wronged. Turning, she sought Long Fei, convinced he was the source of all tonight’s troubles.
Long Fei wasn’t about to wait for Ye Qian to confront him; he took advantage of her momentary distraction to slip into another guest room, grumbling to himself about Ye Qian’s slipper attack. If not for her, he could have slept with Danielle tonight—even if nothing happened, a hug or a touch would have been nice.
Ye Qian saw Long Fei trying to escape and rushed after him, but he was quicker. He slipped inside, locked the door, and leaned against it, chuckling, “Ye Qian, don’t be so unreasonable. Even if I wanted to take advantage, I hit the brakes at the crucial moment! Why are you so stubborn?”
The anger in Ye Qian’s heart was impossible to describe. She liked Long Fei now, and even if he had taken advantage, she wouldn’t be this upset. The fact that he didn’t touch her made her feel even more inferior—she believed it was because her chest was too small, and that’s why he wasn’t interested. He’d already seen her below, and tonight almost saw her above. Worse, he’d played her for a fool. How could she not be angry?
She kicked the door, pounding it repeatedly. “Long Fei, come out!”
Long Fei ignored her and went to soak in the bath.
Ye Qian kept shouting, “Long Fei, you bastard, come out!”
Her voice was growing hoarse.
Unfortunately, Long Fei didn’t hear.
So one person kicked the door outside, one sang in the bath inside, and Danielle lay in bed listening to the commotion.
The noise gradually faded, and Danielle drifted off to sleep. When Long Fei finally came out of the bathroom, there were no more knocks at the door.
He was surprised—was Ye Qian really not causing trouble tonight? That was a stroke of luck. He decided to check Danielle’s room to see if he could slip in; after all, who wanted to be alone in an empty room? He was a man, after all—letting his woman sleep alone wasn’t right.
Opening his door, Long Fei suddenly heard quiet sobbing. The living room light was still on, and he saw Ye Qian sitting on the floor outside his door, crying softly.
Good grief—what was happening? Had Harry Potter collided with a comet? Ye Qian, the invincible witch, was crying? Wasn’t she supposed to be the ultimate devil? How could she shed tears? Was she faking again?
