Volume 1, Chapter 145: Selling Out One's Teammates
The crowd waiting at the foot of the mountain did not see Qin Yu emerge, but they were met instead by ambulances and police cruisers. The security guards dared not obstruct the police, letting them pass immediately. Consequently, the ambulance departed with Lu Jinyuan, while the police cars took Lu Chen away in a grand procession. Qin Yu was also in one of the police vehicles. Though they hadn't seen her earlier, the crowd breathed a sigh of relief knowing she was safe.
At the police station, Qin Yu was brought in to give a statement. The young policewoman handling her intake stared at her face repeatedly; whenever Qin Yu looked up, the officer would shyly lower her head.
"Do you know me?" Qin Yu asked.
The young woman nodded bashfully and admitted, "Wife, I'm your fan!"
Being called "wife" to her face made Qin Yu’s face flush uncontrollably. The young woman thought to herself, *Wow, my wife actually blushes! She’s so cute, I want to cuddle her!* But while she had the desire, she lacked the courage.
Qin Yu looked at her and asked tentatively, "Is your handle 'Kick the Cripple's Good Leg'?"
When the young woman heard Qin Yu recite her screen name, she was so excited she nearly shrieked on the spot. "Ahhh! Wife! You actually know me!"
Qin Yu’s eyelid twitched uncontrollably. Of course she knew it; this handle appeared in her live stream every day, calling her "wife" incessantly. Recently, the user had even coined a slogan: "I am crazy for my wife, I am wild for my wife, I’d crash into a wall for my wife!" It had left Qin Yu utterly embarrassed.
The young woman realized her aggressive handle might be off-putting and laughed sheepishly. "Wife, actually, I just chose a bold handle. In person, I’m actually very quiet, shy, timid, and reserved..."
Great, now Qin Yu’s other eyelid started twitching. Quiet? Shy? Timid? Reserved? Could someone who calls themselves "Kick the Cripple's Good Leg" really say such things?
However, thanks to the fan's enthusiastic hospitality, Qin Yu didn't find the interrogation room boring. The fan, whose name was Jin Zhu, hadn't stopped talking since she met Qin Yu.
"What about Mu Ling? Didn't Mu Ling come with you?"
Qin Yu looked at the imposing sense of righteousness within the police station. "He wouldn't want to come to a place like this." That little weakling couldn't even withstand the malevolent energy on Lu Jinyuan, let alone such thick, righteous energy.
Jin Zhu sighed regretfully. "Oh, I see!"
Qin Yu raised an eyebrow, her eyes glinting with mischief. "Do you like Mu Ling?"
"Mhm!" Jin Zhu nodded vigorously, then realized something and added, "But I like you best, Wife!"
Qin Yu’s ears turned red. "The righteous energy around here is too strong; ghosts like Mu Ling can't get close. When there's a chance, I’ll introduce you two."
Jin Zhu’s eyes widened in surprise. "Really? Really?"
"Mhm!"
"Then can I pet his face when the time comes?" Jin Zhu asked, full of excitement. "He looks so fluffy, he's just too cute! Every time I look at my phone, I just want to pet him!" As she spoke, she made a kneading motion with her hands.
Qin Yu agreed without hesitation. "Of course! You can do whatever you like!"
Jin Zhu clapped her hands in delight. "Wuwuwu, Wife, you spoil your fans too much, I love you more and more!"

Qin Yu left after completing the standard procedures. Anticipating a crowd at the entrance, she used an invisibility talisman and strolled out of the station with ease. She headed straight for the hospital, where Lu Hualing was already waiting.
"How is he?" Qin Yu asked.
Lu Hualing stood up. "The doctor said my uncle broke three ribs. They've been set, and now we're just waiting for him to wake up."
Qin Yu scoffed softly. Lu Chen was truly cold-blooded; he could inflict such heavy injuries even on someone who had been by his side for so long. Three broken ribs! Just thinking about it made her wince in sympathy.
"Master, what exactly happened to my uncle?"
Qin Yu looked at his clear, naive eyes and diverted her gaze. "I don't think you want to know."
But people are often like that—the less someone wants to tell them, the more they want to know. Eventually, unable to withstand Lu Hualing’s relentless questioning, Qin Yu laid out the entire sequence of events. Sure enough, Lu Hualing froze, petrified by the shock of it all.
Qin Yu left him there to process the information and headed to Lu Jinyuan’s room. By the time she returned, Lu Hualing had finally snapped out of his daze. "Master, are you... are you pulling my leg?"
