"Who is it? Who's speaking?"
Granny Gu beckoned to the couple, "The master is here."
The husband and wife exchanged uncertain glances, hesitant to step forward.
The signal in the storage room was poor, and Qin Yu's voice drifted through with a faint static, "Don't be afraid, I'm here to help your daughter, at her request. My name is Dianqiu."
Her voice carried a subtle spiritual energy, soothing the couple's anxious hearts little by little.
Mr. Luo leaned down and whispered to Mrs. Luo, "I'll go check things out..."
As he spoke, his gaze flicked toward the exit. "If anything seems off, run immediately."
Mrs. Luo was frightened, gripping her husband's hand even tighter.
He patted her hand reassuringly, coaxing gently, "Be good, listen."
Only then did she let go.
Mr. Luo approached; atop the table lay a mobile phone.
Fragrant smoke drifted from the incense burners on either side, curling in a hazy mist.
On the phone was a livestream, featuring a beautiful woman.
Mr. Luo frowned, "Who are you? What have you done to my daughter?"
Qin Yu replied, "Mr. Luo, it's not me who has harmed your daughter, but the antiques in your storage room."
He snorted contemptuously, "Ridiculous. I spent a fortune on these antiques. I had them inspected by experts before bringing them home; only those deemed harmless are displayed here."
"Then those experts must have deceived you. Most of the antiques in this room have never been properly purified."
Ordinary unpurified antiques might only bring minor illness, but burial objects used to guard tombs could cause injury—or, in severe cases, death.
"Young lady, do you know who the master I hired is? How dare you speak like this?" Mr. Luo was not only skeptical but began to doubt Qin Yu's character. "You're about the same age as my daughter. You ought to be studying, not following those internet influencers and swindlers, cheating people out of money."
"It’s over, here comes another one who won't believe until he sees the coffin."
"I see myself when I first entered the livestream."
"Wake up, will you? He’s a big boss—what are you?"
"Thank you, Wake-Up Hero, for making me understand myself T_T"
"It’s all because my wife looks so young; she doesn’t resemble a priest at all."
Qin Yu felt a sense of déjà vu at these words. She nodded sincerely, "Thank you, Mr. Luo, for your concern. I am indeed studying now."
Mr. Luo was momentarily at a loss for words.
Seeing his distrust, Qin Yu glanced sidelong at the little green snake hiding in the painting.
The happy, gesticulating snake suddenly felt a chill run down her scaly back.
She instinctively peeked at the livestream, but Qin Yu wasn’t even looking her way.
Was it a false alarm?
Since Mr. Luo refused to believe, Qin Yu had no choice but to awaken Luo Yiyi.
"Granny Gu, please have Luo Yiyi face me."
Granny Gu nodded slowly and complied.
Qin Yu formed seals with her hands, finally flicking her thumb and middle finger. A streak of mystical golden light shot into the screen, piercing Luo Yiyi's brow and, along with it, ejecting Granny Gu.
The pain of her limbs being pulled made Luo Yiyi's legs buckle, sending her tumbling backward—fortunately, Mr. Luo was there to catch her.
Mrs. Luo, still watching intently from the exit, rushed over as soon as she saw Luo Yiyi fall.
Seeing her wife enter, Mr. Luo frowned, his tone tinged with reproach, "Didn't I tell you to wait at the door? Why did you come in?"
"I was worried about you and Yiyi!"
He could only sigh and instinctively shield both of them in his embrace.
"Dad! Mom! Waaa!"
Still dazed from being awakened, Luo Yiyi brightened as she recognized her parents holding her. She threw herself into their arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
Qin Yu watched this family reunion and thought of Su Jin, lying in the hospital.
Would he pull through?
Mr. Luo had wanted to ask what happened, but seeing Luo Yiyi cry so heartbreakingly, he couldn’t bring himself to press.
After a minute, Luo Yiyi remembered the danger and blurted out, "Dad, Mom! I was possessed by a ghost!"
Mr. and Mrs. Luo nodded: We saw that already.
"It wasn't Granny Gu! It was a green snake! She hung me from the ceiling! My hands and feet still hurt!"
She lifted her sleeve, revealing crimson lines on her biceps—evidence of torn muscle fibers.
Mrs. Luo cradled her arm, examining it anxiously.
Mr. Luo’s expression darkened. Though reluctant to trust Qin Yu, he had no way to explain Yiyi’s injuries.
"Wanwan, take Yiyi out to apply some medicine."
Mrs. Luo nodded, supporting Luo Yiyi as they left.
Qin Yu noted the half-belief lingering in Mr. Luo’s eyes.
Once Luo Yiyi and her mother were gone, Mr. Luo spoke grimly, "Do you realize the master I hired is a highly respected grand priest of Clearwind Temple?"
Subtext: Who gave you the courage to question a grand priest?
Qin Yu grinned, her small white teeth charming, "Mr. Luo, I don’t know whether he’s a grand priest or not, but I can guarantee most of the antiques in this room are unpurified."
"If they had been properly purified, how could your daughter have been possessed?"
"Mr. Luo, you should trust the streamer. She truly has some real skills."
"Yes, Father-in-law, the master just broadcast everything live; all of us in the stream saw it."
"Nice loophole, that's my father-in-law!"
"Whose father-in-law? He’s everyone’s!"
"Give it a rest! Yiyi is still young—how could you say such things? Unlike me, who will wait for her to grow up... future father-in-law."
"Just asking, is the streamer openly challenging Clearwind Temple now?"
"I heard Clearwind Temple is the leading Taoist temple these days. Surely they can handle basic purification?"
"@ClearwindTemple, your business skills need work. Come see for yourselves."
"Er... I’m a bit worried for the streamer. Clearwind Temple is a big deal; if she offends them, can she survive in the spiritual world?"
"What do you mean, ‘offend Clearwind Temple’? My wife is saving lives! You people, look at what you’re saying. Please don’t stir up trouble."
"Grandpa's So Handsome" entered the livestream, riding a rainbow cloud.
Because he’d spent fifty thousand yuan in one go, he received a dazzling entrance announcement.
"What nonsense is Clearwind Temple? Last time I hired them, they charged me three hundred thousand, and the problem wasn’t solved. If it weren’t for the fact that the priest died, I wouldn’t have paid a cent."
Qin Yu noticed this comment and narrowed her eyes.
So should she have charged less back then?
"Is that true or fake?"
"Do you think I need to lie?"
"Grandpa's So Handsome" glanced around the stream and saw his top spot had been taken. His handsome features scrunched up.
Then, with a flourish, he reclaimed his title.
"666, what a tycoon!"
"Sorry, young master, my doubts were too loud earlier."
"Young master, do you need any friends? Money aside, I just want to be your friend."
"Father-in-law, did you hire a fake Clearwind Temple? There really are a lot of scammers nowadays."
