Volume 9: From Green Leaves to the Undead Chapter 1: Kadochin the Brave Little Thief
Kadocin quickly transformed and entered the passage. Li Bin and his group traveled about five or six kilometers through this secret path before the space finally opened up. After reverting to his mummy form, Li Bin quickly took stock of his troops. He found that the journey had been relatively smooth; apart from a few sand mummies who had gone missing, the others were still following closely behind him.
However, judging by the expressions of the sand mummies and the vampires, they seemed exhausted from staying in their transformed states for too long. Looking at the pitch-black passage ahead, Li Bin sighed and said, "First ghost squad, go ahead and scout the path. Report back immediately if you find anything." Upon hearing this, Kadocin immediately cried out, "Let me go! Let me go!" Li Bin’s brow furrowed instantly. How could he let this young lady handle such a dangerous task? If something went wrong, it would be a huge headache for him. But before Li Bin could refuse, Kadocin had already taken the first ghost squad and dashed off. Li Bin wanted to chase after them, but he was no match for their speed; they turned a few corners and vanished from sight.
Seeing this, Li Bin had no choice but to let his subordinates recover their strength while sending the second ghost squad to follow far behind Kadocin’s group. If anything happened, he would prioritize rescuing her first. After resting for a long time, most of the troops had regained their stamina, but there was still no news from Kadocin, and even the ghost squad sent to follow her had gone silent.
This made Li Bin anxious. He immediately led his team rushing toward the other end of the passage. Soon, he found the marks Kadocin had left behind.
However, the further they went, the harder it became to find the markings. Could something have happened to Kadocin? The thought flashed through Li Bin's mind. Thinking of this, he became increasingly urgent, ignoring the state of those behind him as he took the lead and charged forward.
Soon, Li Bin found the exit of the passage and dashed out without hesitation.
As he emerged, he saw a massive tree directly in front of him. The tree trunk itself was shaped like a giant human face, and its roots branched out into two limbs, forming the shape of hands. Each hand held a small castle.
Near the giant tree, towering trees were everywhere. High-level archer elves and sprites were busy working in the canopy, while groups of dwarves and treants were toiling on the ground below. Several high towers stood nearby in the clearing.
At that moment, he saw Kadocin and all the ghost soldiers cautiously sneaking past the treants and elven guards, heading toward a tower covered in vines.
However, the tranquility seemed to be shattered by the sudden appearance of Li Bin and his subordinates. All the nature-aligned troops in the area spotted the intruders. Two squads of silver pegasus knights quickly swooped toward Li Bin. Seeing that Kadocin was safe, Li Bin felt his heart settle. He waved his hand, ordering all the sand mummies to push forward.
Then, he overturned Carter’s mechanical cart, and thousands of corpses spilled onto the ground.
Seeing Li Bin’s actions, Kadocin understood his intent. She continued to lead the ghost soldiers silently toward the tower, ignoring the battle erupting behind her. Li Bin, holding off the enemy with his sand mummies, quickly used the help of the vampire mages to animate the corpses into skeleton soldiers and zombie soldiers.
Li Bin then led his forces to engage the enemy's main army. Perhaps because this was the headquarters of the Green Leaf Alliance and they had never faced an external attack, the elite troops stationed there were slow to react.
When attacked, they failed to organize effective coordination, instead arriving in fragmented waves. This gave Li Bin’s troops a significant advantage. By replacing the sand mummies with the newly raised skeleton and zombie soldiers, Li Bin managed to hold the defensive line.
Subsequently, the vampire warriors launched a rapid assault, pinning down the incoming unicorn cavalry, while the ghost soldiers, taking advantage of their flight and resistance to physical attacks, swept through the arriving archer units. Faced with Li Bin’s formidable combat power and the increasingly dire situation, the players and heroes guarding the headquarters had no choice but to bring out their personal guards.
Upon seeing Li Bin, the lead player’s expression turned grim. The elven player pointed at Li Bin and demanded, "Are you the undead who wants to destroy all our plans? Why are you doing this? We never provoked you!" Li Bin, while consolidating his troops, laughed and replied, "If I didn't confront you head-on and let your plans continue, would you spare my territory once you reached it?"
"That..." the elven player hesitated before saying, "At the very least, we would arrange a good place for you."
"A good place?" Li Bin laughed aloud. "I’ve traveled through your territories and have never seen a single undead player. Even those of other factions are only relegated to remote cities without resources. Is this what you call a good place?"
The elven player wanted to say more, but Li Bin waved his hand. "Do not summon any more troops; it is useless. I came here today just to give you a warning: abandon your plan."
Seeing that Li Bin had discovered his intentions, the elven player stopped hiding and brazenly mobilized all his remaining forces, shouting, "You expect me to abandon this plan? You haven't received the main quest yourself, have you? Do you honestly think you would give up such a generous reward?"
"Of course not. No matter the circumstances, I would never give it up," Li Bin stated firmly without a second thought.
"Then there is nothing more to say. Attack!" With a wave of the elven player’s hand, the reorganized troops quickly surrounded Li Bin.
Li Bin solemnly adjusted his battle formation, forcibly holding onto a crumbling defensive line while scanning the terrain for a way to break the deadlock.
Just then, a fierce dragon roar erupted from the nearby high tower. Kadocin then swooped toward them with her ghost soldiers, holding a green glow in her hand.
Seeing this, Li Bin was overjoyed. Knowing Kadocin had successfully stolen the Pastoral Whip she was looking for, he waved his hand, pushing all his skeletons and zombies forward to forcibly carve out a path to bring Kadocin in.
