As soon as this thought formed in Li Bin’s mind, another idea flashed through his head: the players. Li Bin had anticipated the conflict between the chieftain and the elders at the Amazon camp, had foreseen the chieftain’s plans to deal with those elders, understood why the chieftain entrusted him with almost a month’s worth of troops, and realized the purpose of the treasure he sought—yet he had not accounted for the existence of the players. If the Amazon elders were to take advantage of the players’ desire for troops and issue a quest to take down the chieftain, everything Li Bin needed would be for nothing.

Thinking of this, Li Bin shouted, “Get out of my way, or die!”

At his roar, Li Bin’s troops swiftly formed a triangular battle formation, their attack speed and strength both enhanced.

In response, Crusader Sheep, undaunted, led his troops forward in a charge. However, his forces were weak; in just a few moments, Li Bin’s triangle formation scattered them completely.

“You’re no match for me. Better let Elder Gentle Wind behind you come forward.” Li Bin didn’t kill Crusader Sheep, simply dispersing his forces and letting him go.

Yet Crusader Sheep felt no gratitude for this mercy; instead, he quickly regrouped his troops, readying himself for another clash with Li Bin.

Just then, another troop appeared. Looking up, Li Bin broke into a smile—it was Elder Gentle Wind of the Amazon tribe leading the force.

The moment he saw her, Crusader Sheep cried out, “Elder Gentle Wind, that undead guy doesn’t trust you and refuses to hand over the goods!”

“I know. In any case, your mission’s complete. If you don’t want to die, you’d better leave.” Elder Gentle Wind shot him a disdainful look.

“What do you mean by that?” Crusader Sheep bellowed.

“She means your only role was to stall me; now you’re no longer needed. Isn’t that right?” Li Bin fixed Elder Gentle Wind with a steady gaze.

“Exactly.” Now that matters had come to this, Elder Gentle Wind no longer bothered with pretense. She said triumphantly, “Members of the Black Moonstone Guild have already arrived at the Amazon camp. Soon, I will be the chieftain of the Amazon camp.”

“Oh? So it seems I’ve made this journey in vain. Player Gentle Wind?” From her words, Li Bin caught on to even more.

“You’re quite sharp,” Elder Gentle Wind replied after a brief pause. “Why not join our Black Moonstone Guild? I’m sure the guild leadership would value your talents highly.”

“I’m afraid it’s already too late. I seem to have brought your guild quite a bit of trouble.” As Li Bin spoke, he released a messenger ghost crow.

“What trouble? Don’t think you can summon anyone to stop our guild’s assault on the Amazon camp!” Elder Gentle Wind laughed loudly.

“That’s not what I meant. I’ve already handed the Evergreen Divine Vine to your chieftain.” Li Bin smiled faintly, his voice calm.

“You… what did you say?” Elder Gentle Wind sprang up, hurriedly releasing several flying eagles.

Soon, the eagles returned. Li Bin watched as Elder Gentle Wind’s face grew darker and darker.

“What’s wrong? Regretting bringing all your troops out?” Li Bin sneered coldly. “I suppose if you hadn’t led every last soldier out here, you might have been able to help your guild after all.”

“Hmph.” Elder Gentle Wind said nothing, but inwardly she cursed Li Bin for meddling.

She was originally a player born in the Amazon tribe. Thanks to the game’s favor toward players, she was made an elder as soon as she appeared, with the tribe assigning her a contingent of level 2 to 4 troops every week, as well as a subsidy of funds and resources.

But Elder Gentle Wind was not content. If she wanted to thrive in the game, she needed more power—so she set her sights on the position of Amazon chieftain.

After joining the Black Moonstone Guild, her ambition grew even greater. Using her authority over the Amazon tribe’s quest distribution, she assigned every quest to members of her guild, who then formed all-Amazon warrior squads.

With this method, she controlled half of the tribe’s forces. If it weren’t for the two level 5 troop types beyond her reach, and the level 6 troop quests that no one could complete, her strength would be even greater.

This time, the chieftain bypassed her to entrust a quest to Li Bin, which immediately drew her attention. To prevent the tribe from slipping out of her grasp, she even requested reinforcements—an all-Amazon force—from the Black Moonstone Guild.

Her original plan was to take advantage of Li Bin’s delay in delivering the goods and have this force storm the Amazon camp. Since it would be an attack by Amazon troops, the system would judge it as an internal power shift rather than the destruction of the gathering point.

She feared that if she stayed in the camp and battle broke out, the chieftain might use his authority to forcibly conscript her troops—so she led her forces out to intercept Li Bin.

As for that player called Crusader Sheep, she had only chosen him because he was fast; his sole purpose was to block Li Bin far from the Amazon tribe.

But she never expected Li Bin to see through her plan in advance, delivering the Evergreen Divine Vine early to the chieftain and foiling her scheme completely.

The thought filled Elder Gentle Wind with fury. She pointed at Li Bin and cursed, “It’s all your fault! You’ve ruined everything! I’ll kill you!”

“That depends on your ability.” Li Bin snorted coldly, his forces slowly pressing forward.

Elder Gentle Wind wasted no time. She drew a composite bow and fired an arrow at Li Bin, while the Amazon warrior women behind her charged at his formation.

Li Bin, seasoned by Alastair’s tutelage, was no longer the naïve novice he once was. Under his command, his troops quickly shifted formation. Though still a triangle charge, the arrangement of soldiers had changed.

Now, the fastest undead Steelclaw Ghosts took the lead in place of the iron-armed corpses known for brute strength. These airborne champions, taking advantage of their speed, lunged directly at the Amazon Eagle Archers flying overhead.

Only then did Li Bin’s own Amazon Eagle Archers slowly rise into the air, targeting the Amazon Swift Panther Fighters in Elder Gentle Wind’s ranks.

As for the lowest-ranked Amazon Bear Warriors, they weren’t even a match for Li Bin’s regular corpse soldiers. Thus, Elder Gentle Wind’s forces were easily wiped out by Li Bin.
